TITLE : General Host Mode Problems

This document details how to solve some basic Host mode problems you might
encounter.
Note: In this discussion, the unattended computer which is running Procomm
Plus' Host mode will be referred to as the host PC; the computer which is
connecting to the host PC will be referred to as the local PC.
SYMPTOM: THE HOST WILL NOT LET LOCAL USERS LOG IN UNDER ANY NAME OR PASSWORD.
The host PC is configured as a closed system. Only users that have been added
to the user record with the User Editor can log in to a closed system. The
manager of the host PC can either run the HOSTUTIL script and change the
System type option to "OPEN", or use the HOSTUTIL's User Editor to add names
to the user record.
SYMPTOM: LOCAL USERS DO NOT SEE A DOWNLOAD OPTION WHEN THEY CONNECT TO THE
HOST SYSTEM.
The host PC has been configured with limited access for new users. The
manager of the host PC should run the HOSTUTIL script and change the "New User
Level" option to "1 - Normal User" so that new users will be given file
transfer access. In addition, the manager should press the "User Editor"
push-button and set the "Privilege" option for each previous user to
"1-Normal" to allow these users downloading access.
SYMPTOM: THE USER EDITOR IN THE HOSTUTIL SCRIPT WILL NOT LET THE HOST PC'S
MANAGER ADD MORE USERS.
The User Editor won't allow you to enter more than 51 entries. Instead, have
the user connect and log in or use the "Local login" feature to log in with
the user's name and password. The user information will be added to the user
record and can then be edited with the User Editor.
