TITLE : IND$FILE File Transfer Problems
PRODUCT : Procomm Plus
==============================================================================

IND$FILE protocol is a required protocol for transferring a file between a PC
running Procomm Plus and some IBM host computers. Here are some tips if you
are having problems using the IND$FILE protocol.

CHECK THE SETTINGS
Most problems with IND$FILE file transfers are due to mismatched Procomm Plus
settings for the mainframe hardware and operating environment involved in the
transfer.

To see the IND$FILE options, click Setup | Data | Transfer Protocol and select
IND$FILE from the Current Protocol drop-down listbox. To select the correct
Host OS and Environment settings, consult the mainframe's System Administrator
for information regarding the host operating system and the environment's
protocol converter. For successful transfers, it is very important that these
fields exactly match the hardware and software used by the mainframe.

FILE CORRUPTION
If the transfer completes but the file is unusable, it is possible that the
ASCII translate and/or the CR-LF translate options were used incorrectly.
These options should only be enabled if a text file transfer is desired.
Using these options during a binary (executable) file transfer will render the
file unusable.
