TITLE   : Connect & Download a File from the Quarterdeck BBS

Your manual explains how to connect to the Quarterdeck BBS and download the
ONLINE.DOC file.  However, the format of the Quarterdeck BBS has changed since
the printing of your manual.  This document show you how to connect to the new
Quarterdeck BBS and download the ONLINE.DOC file.

CONNECTING TO THE Quarterdeck BBS

 1. Create a Dialing Directory entry for the Quarterdeck BBS. Use the default
    baud rate that PROCOMM PLUS set up for your modem. Set the entry's parity
    to "NONE", data bits to "8", stop bits to "1", and terminal emulation to
    "ANSI-BBS".  The phone number is "573-875-0503".

 2. Activate the directory entry to call the BBS.

 3. After your modem quits making tones and the Dialing Directory disappears,
    you may need to press <Enter> one or more times to "wake up" the BBS. An
    information screen will appear with a "Please enter your FULL name:"
    prompt. Enter your complete name and press <Enter>.  If the BBS responds,
    "Is this you?", another user with an identical name has previously visited
    the forum. Type "N" and the BBS will prompt "Please enter your FULL name:"
    again. Re-enter your name, including your middle initial, to start your
    own user file.

 4. The BBS will prompt "Calling from(City, State)?".  Enter the city and
    state in which you live and press <Enter>.

 5. Type a 1-8 character password and press <Enter> at the "Your password?"
    prompt.  Remember this password for future sessions on the Quarterdeck
    BBS.

NOTE: Steps 6-12 are applicable to new users of the Quarterdeck BBS.

 6. If you are a new user of the Quarterdeck BBS, you will see the "Re-enter
    New password to verify:" prompt.  Type the same password that you typed in
    step 5 and press <Enter>. The BBS will display some connection information
    and a "-Press Any Key-" prompt. Press any key to continue.

 7. Three blocks will appear on the screen with a "Do you see three colored
    blocks above?" prompt.  Type "Y" if the blocks are colored, or "N" if they
    aren't colored.

 8. Several screens of information about the Quarterdeck BBS will appear on
    the screen, followed by "-More-" at the bottom of the screen. Read this
    information and press any key to proceed to the next screen. The last BBS
    information screen will issue a "Please press <Enter> to continue..."
    prompt.  Press <Enter> to continue.

 9. An information window will appear with the title "New User Survey",
    followed by the "Please press <Enter> to continue." prompt. Read the
    information and press <Enter>.

10. The "First Name:" prompt will appear.  Type your name and press
    <Enter>. More information prompts will follow and they should be
    answered appropriately.

11. After entering your personal information, a window will appear with
    the "IMPORTANT NEWS FLASH" title.  Read the information and press
    any key to continue.

12. The "Quarterdeck Technical Support BBS" menu will appear. You have
    successfully logged onto the Quarterdeck BBS and are ready to download a
    file.

DOWNLOAD ONLINE.DOC

1. At the "Quarterdeck Technical Support BBS" menu, type "F" to select the "Go
   to the File Transfer Menu" option.

2. At the "File Transfer Menu", type "D" to select the "Download a File/
   List Files" option.

3. At the "Select File Library" menu, type the number of the General
   Information Libary and press <Enter> to access the "General Information
   Library" option.

4. The "<A>rea, <D>ownload, <P>rotocol, <E>xamine, <N>ew, <L>ist, or
   <H>elp" and "Selection or <CR> to exit:" prompts will appear. Type
   "D" and press <Enter> to select the "<D>ownload" option.

5. The "File Name?" prompt will appear.  Type "ONLINE.DOC" and press
   <Enter>.

6. The "Select from the following transfer protocols:" message will
   appear, followed by a protocol list and the "Choose one (Q to Quit):
   " prompt. Type "Z" to choose the "ZMODEM" option. If the download
   does not start immediately, PROCOMM PLUS users should press
   <Page Down>, or PROCOMM PLUS for Windows users should click on the
   "Receive File" icon.

7. When the download is completed, the "<A>rea, <D>ownload, <P>rotocol,
   <E>xamine, <N>ew, <L>ist, or <H>elp" and "Selection or <CR> to exit:"
   prompts appear again. Press<Enter> to return to the "File Transfer
   Menu" screen.

8. Type "G" to select the "Goodbye/Hangup" option.  The "Goodbye Menu"
   window will appear.  Type "1" to select the "Disconnect from the BBS"
   option.
