==============================================================================
TITLE : Tips for Using the Connection Directory
PRODUCT : Procomm Plus 4.x, 3.0
==============================================================================

This document will cover Creating/Editing Groups, Creating New Connection
Directories, Importing/Exporting Connection Directories, and organizing your
entries.

ORGANIZING YOUR CONNECTIONS
One method of organizing your connections is to create groups that hold "like"
connections. If your company has many numbers or contacts you need to
communicate with, create a group for your company and put all your associated
contacts in this group.

CREATING A NEW GROUP
For this example, we'll use Quarterdeck as the Group Name. We'll use Bill,
Joe, Bob and Jack as contacts to communicate with, add these as new entries in
your directory.

From within the Connection Directory, create a group by clicking Edit then
New Group from the menu bar. Type in the group name Quarterdeck. Notice the
entries that are available and the entries that are currently in the group.
If Bill was highlighted when we created this group, he will already be entered
as a member.

To add Joe, Bob, and Jack to the Quarterdeck group, highlight their names and
click the right arrow button. These entries will now be a part of the Group
Name Qaurterdeck. Click OK. The group Quarterdeck now appears in the Entries
window with an icon of a folder to the left (this signifies that this entry is
a group). Double-click the group to view its contents.

SEPARATE CONNECTION DIRECTORIES
Another way to organize your connections is to make alternate connection
directories. This is also a nice way to separate entries from other entries.
An example of this would be keeping personal and business contacts separate
from each other.

To create a new business contact, do the following:

 1. Click File | New | Edit | New Entry.
 2. Fill in the corresponding fields and click OK. You now have one business
contact in your business directory. You'll need to save your new business
    directory.

You could make groups within your business directory. For example, you could
create groups called VENDORS, CONTACTS, etc.

IMPORT/EXPORT DIRECTORY ENTRIES
Procomm Plus allows you to import and export your directory entries. Please
refer to your Step-By-Step Guide or the On-line Reference Manual for
instructions on how to do this.

NOTE: If you are importing a file that includes quoted strings, you will need
to
use a text editor to remove the quotes. The only time you would want to keep
a
quoted string is if you had a field that contained a comma.
