This document clarifies Quarterdeck's policies regarding ASPECT support and
consulting.

WHAT TYPES OF ASPECT SUPPORT DOES QUARTERDECK OFFER?

Explanation of Commands
   When a customer has narrowed down a problem in a script to a specific
   command which is not working, Quarterdeck Technical Support can
   provide an example of how the command works with a section of code.

General debugging procedures
   When customers cannot determine why a script does not work the way they
   expect and can't figure out why, we can supply general strategies for how
   to Locate the problem.

Version differences
   If a customer has questions regarding new ASPECT features in a product, we
   can tell them what types of modifications have been made and in the case of
   simple tasks, determine which versions of ASPECT they can accomplish their
   goals with.

Help with conversion utility
   We can explain how to use the conversion utility and generally how to
   convert ASPECT scripts by hand.  We can point out the main differences in
   the versions and what you may have to convert manually.

Conceptualizing an algorithm
   An algorithm is a step by step procedure for solving a problem. We can help
   customers visualize how to use ASPECT commands to accomplish a goal, and
   with which commands they may need to use.  This applies only to simple
   goals which do not require consulting level support.

Providing small custom programs
   Quarterdeck technicians can provide small segments of ASPECT code to
   illustrate correct usage of commands.  This is not considered consulting
   and the customer should be aware that when they modify the segment and
   incorporate it into their script, Quarterdeck is not obligated to support
   the modified code or the task of merging it with the main script.


HOW CAN I FIND USEFUL EXAMPLES OF ASPECT PROGRAMMING?

You'll find many example ASPECT scripts on the Quarterdeck BBS and the
Quarterdeck Forum on CompuServe.

Several ASPECT scripts with source code are bundled with PROCOMM PLUS.

  * PROCOMM PLUS (DOS) ASPECT example scripts are located in your
    PCPLUS home directory with an extension of ASP.

  * PROCOMM PLUS for Windows 3.xx example scripts are located in your
    PROWIN3\ASPECT directory tree with an extension of WAS.

  * Procomm Plus 4.xx example scripts are located in your
    Program Files\Procomm Plus\Aspect directory with an extension of WAS.

Your PROCOMM PLUS for DOS manual and the Procomm Plus for Windows On-line
Reference Manual also provide script examples.
