Modems that support Distinctive Ring and Caller ID are very new, and few
manufacturers support this feature. As of 5/11/95, Rockwell International
does support both Caller ID and Distinctive Ring in their chipsets. However,
it is up to each modem manufacturer whether or not they want to support these
features in their modems.
As of 5/11/95, AT&T does not support Caller ID and Distinctive Ring in their
chipsets. However, AT&T has committed to adding these features to their
chipsets later this year.
The following is a list of modems that support Caller ID and/or Distinctive
Ring, and whether or not they have been tested and approved for use with
PROCOMM PLUS for Windows 2.x. This list does not constitute any endorsement
or favoritism of one manufacturer versus another. It is simply a listing of
modems that DATASTORM knows about that supports the Caller ID and Distinctive
Ring features.
