The problems experienced were with Windows NT 4.0 Build 1381 Service pack 1. The problems were corrected by obtaining and installing Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 2 from Microsoft Corporation. More information on the symptoms, problem resolution, and contacting Microsoft Corporation are provided below. Symptoms -------- Serial print jobs would be lost when jobs were placed in the print queue and the printer would intermittently stop in the middle of a printout. Attempting to "Purge Print Documents" would purge jobs intermittently, but the serial port would no longer function after the first lock up and subsequent jobs would stack up in the print queue unprinted. Only a full system restart would allow serial printing again. Resolution ---------- Obtain and install Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 2. Microsoft has confirmed problems with portions of the Windows NT 4.0 Printing Architecture and documented them in the Knowledge Base articles listed below.
